Dear ISC friends and family,
We are pleased to announce our newest partnership with CB3 Sports Performance. CB3 will now be in charge of all sports performance training here at the Inland Sports Center. This partnership will allow us to enter into new areas of training, such as incorporating Nike SPARQ (more info on Nike SPARQ coming soon). There will be many more details forthcoming in the next few weeks, so look out for those emails. Now a little bit more on CB3 Sports, their founder Carlos Bocanegra, and their Sports Performance Director Jay Mathews...
CB3 was founded by Carlos Bocanegra. He is the current Captain of the US Men’s National Soccer team and a native of Alta Loma. At Alta Loma high school, Carlos was a standout football and soccer player. His ultimate goal is to have a destination facility that caters to the needs of every athlete, regardless of sport, that covers everything from performance, to coaching, to nutrition, to rehabilitation, and regeneration.
Jay Mathews is the Director of Sports Performance for CB3 and has extensive experience as an athletic trainer and strength coach. Jay has provided performance programs and medical coverage to a wide range of athletes in multiple sports from the weekend warrior to elite professional players. He has specialized in performance enhancement and injury prevention programs. He has been developing programs for over 12 years and is constantly evolving his programs to provide the greatest opportunity for success to the athletes he trains. He is a Nike SPARQ Authorized trainer and has provided fitness lectures to coaching candidates for the US Soccer Federation, as well as international lectures. He also performs Nike SPARQ rating tests for various athletes. Some of Jay's credentials are as follows:
-Certifications as a performance enhancement specialist (PES)
-Certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS)
-Degree as a physical therapist assistant (PTA) from Kent State University - Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from the California
University of Pennsylvania
-Undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago
-Founding member and the former President and Secretary/Treasurer of the Professional Soccer Athletic Trainers’ Society (PSATS).
The CB3 sports performance and conditioning philosophy involves examining all the physical components required to make an athlete successful in their sport. The foundation of all the training programs revolves around the 6 pillars of performance as identified in the Nike SPARQ program.
These pillars include:
•Mobility •Speed/Agility
•Power •Endurance
•Strength •Regeneration
By developing programs based on these pillars, we can effectively train areas that are needed for optimal sports performance. Athletes will be given the tools to enhance their athletic ability, allowing them the opportunity to showcase their individual abilities. Jay will be responsible for designing all the sports performance programs for athletes at ISC. He will run the programs and continue to utilize coaches who he is able to train in his methodology for optimal performance of the programs. We are very excited for all the new opportunities that we will be able to present to our valued customers. We hope to see you all in here in the coming weeks, and wish you a safe and happy new year!
Sincerely,
ISC Staff
